Outdoor lighting in an office building – what should it look like?

Lonely monoliths, lofty shapes towering over the streets. Buildings that are alive inside and dead outside – office buildings. A permanent element of the city, not arousing sympathy among the inhabitants. It is associated with a concrete desert or a huge anthill. In the morning, the lines of cars and pedestrians disappear into the depths of the building, and in the afternoon or evening they leave the building with the same rope. And only the bright, irregular squares of the windows prove that some life in the building is still going on and on.

But does it have to be like that? Must office buildings and the surroundings around them be associated only with work, rat race and shade due to lack of sun? Is every high-rise office building a so-called Mordor?

Not anymore! When designing new office buildings or renovating old buildings, he begins to pay attention not only to the functional functions of the building, but also to the aesthetic and social aspects. It is important that the surrounding space also comes to life, becomes a living tissue of the city, teeming with life. A nice façade or the designation of the ground floor as generally available premises such as boutiques, bistros, restaurants and galleries are no longer enough.

A perfect element enlivening the space and eye-catching is the right choice of outdoor lighting. The slenderness of lanterns from the Bover or Bolard series, or the unique shape of the Elew and Kadet series, can give the space around buildings and between them a certain lightness and openness. Lantern forms, which in themselves can be a work of art, and additionally, thanks to their functional properties, they can give the space around a new meaning. Soft, symmetrical or asymmetrical light in appropriately selected colors allows not only to meet the lighting standards of public places, but also to bring out and emphasize the details of the space. In addition, the introduction of greenery (flower beds, shrubs, ornamental grasses), places to rest (benches, platforms), sculptures allows you to use the accentuating function of lighting. The right color of light and directing the stream to selected elements phasizes their form, indicates the importance of the detail of the facade texture, the roughness of the pavement, the uniqueness of the wood grain on the benches, and also changes the perception of space by the external observer. The place between the buildings becomes an area for social meetings, recreational walks or a place for romantic dates.

During the day, you can appreciate the beauty of simple lanterns and lanterns, and in the evening you can appreciate their magical quality of space lighting. It is enough to walk in Łódź along the promenade between the Imagine office buildings. The space illuminated by Bover lanterns invites you to rest on the nearby benches and drink the esspresso in a leisurely manner.
